Shopkick

I had to share with everyone an App that I have found that I have enjoyed and is earning money for me!  Shopkick is an app that can be used on your iphones or Droid cellphone.  This is how it works.  Sign up and download the app to your phone.  Each time you go into the stores you love and already go to (like Old Navy, American Eagle, Target, Walmart, CVS, etc) you earn "kicks".  When you reach different amounts of "kicks" you earn gift cards to stores.  This is awesome!  Right now when you shop at Target a coupon is printed at the register offering you $2 in gift cards from Shopkicks.

I hope you enjoy this app as much as I do.  I enjoy making $$$ especially when it is this easy.

Got Summer Camps? We Do!

What are your kids doing this summer?

I bet you have thought about how you could entertain them each week but still provide them with a fun experience and possibly work or do what you need to do.  You might have even considered looking for a summer camp.

I recently found a website, Carolina Summer Camps that provides parents all of the information you need to know to find the best summer camps all around North Carolina.  Not only does it provide all of your ingformation it is very well organized.  You can easily search for camps near your area with the different links provided.  I was very interested in www.RaleighSummerCamps.org because it is close to the are that children from my area might attend.  I was pleased to find all of the different camps that are available to children.  Children can attend camp for things such as art, sports, and even academics.  I am sure that whatever your child's interests are there is probably a camp for them to attend this summer to help nurture it.

If you would like some good fun for your children this summer and live in North Carolina check out this site www.CarolinaSummerCamps.org. It will be fun for your kids and a little break for you.

SmartKlean Laundry Ball

I have had the opportunity to experience an innovative new non-detergent laundry ball call the SmartKlean Laundry Ball. I have to admit at first I was pretty skeptical and thought there was no way possible that a small ball could be effective in washing an entire load of clothes.

SK - HD from SmartKlean on Vimeo.

I was impressed indeed after using the SmartKleanball. In fact I am thrilled to share this with my readers because of all of the benefits that it offers. Some of these benefits are:

-The SmartKlean ball has no artificial fragrances, chemicals, dyes, or phosphates.

*Being a concerned mom I am always concerned about what is in the food that I prepare for my child but I sometimes forget about chemicals that would be in contact with our skin. I, myself, have had problems with skin rashes due to fragrances in soaps, shampoos, and detergents. This product offers a clean and safe alternative.

-It delivers an effective wash for clothing.

*The laundry ball contains four types of minerals that help clean your clothes in an effective way by preventing mold and bacteria, elevating the PH of the water, eliminating chloride compound in the water. The ball itself beats around in the machine to beat and agitate the clothing to get dirt off during the wash cycle.

-The ball is easy to use.

*Easy to use is an understatement. All you need to do is load the washing machine with your clothes and put the ball in with them and let it do all the work.

-The ball is safe and can be used with any washing machine.

*The SmartKlean ball is safe. It can be used with any washing machine by just putting it in with the clothing. It is recommended to only wash 3/4 of a load as to not overload the washing machine. No extra materials are required with using the ball.

-It is environmentally friendly. It is safe for your health and clothes.

*This ball does not contain all of the chemicals or dyes that so many people are allergic too. Also, the ball naturally cleans your clothes without the harsh chemicals involved.

-The ball is portable.

*The ball is easy to transport if needed. Taking the ball on a trip would be easy and convenient. Lets face it when you travel and use different products it affects your skin and health. Keeping products such as these consistent is important.

-One laundry ball is equal to one year of washing.

*Yes, that is right! One ball= 365 washes! This is a great way to save money.

When reviewing the product and knowing how pleased I was with it I assumed that the SmartKlean ball would be well out of my price range. One laundry ball that will last 365 days and 365 loads is $45 + 5 shipping (in the U.S.). You can order straight from their site.

If you compare the cost of your regular laundry detergent I am sure for a year's supply you would pay well above $50. This ball is a great alternative way to clean your laundry in a safe and economical way.

Teddy Bear Clinic

I wanted to tell you all about an event that our local hospital sponsored for children yesterday.

I found out through a friend that our hospital was having a Teddy Bear Clinic.  I was unsure if my 3 year old would enjoy it but I called to get details anyway.  I found out from the contact person that it would be for ages 2 and up and it would help with any fears that a child might have about doctors or the hospital.  I went ahead and schedule a time for us to attend.

I was very impressed because the whole event was organized and so cute.

When we went to our appointment we went into the hospital where our day surgery would usually take place with our child's favorite bear. Reagan, our daughter, had just hurt her head when she fell off her daddy's recliner the day before so she had a rather large bump on her head.  When the nurses came to assess her bear for surgery they started by asking all of the usual questions when going to the doctor.   She was asked what happened to her bear.  She told them that the bear had fallen off of a chair and hit his head and hurt his arm too.  They also asked other questions like, "how long ago did this happen?"

After the assessment the patient, "her bear" and Reagan were prepped for surgery.  They both were given hats and sent off to anesthesiology.  Reagan was told to help put her bear asleep by using a mask and some other machines.  The mask actually smelled like strawberries (pretty cool).

Then it was time for surgery to take place.  Our bear didn't have much "surgery"  but they did help him out by putting a band-aid on his head and also wrapping his arm in a bandage.  Reagan loved every minute of it.

That wasn't the end of it though.  Next they went to recovery where the bear woke up and actually got a "paw-scription" with candy and lots of stickers and things to help him feel better.

After we left we even received a call to check up on our little patient.  We told them that the bear was doing well but that the bear hadn't been able to rest like they had told us to have him do.  My daughter kept taking him around everywhere we went to show everyone his boo boos.  She was so excited.
This ended up being a great event and I think that Reagan feels more comfortable about doctors and all of the instruments that may seem scary to a child but are necessary to help during an emergency.

Check out your local newspaper for events like these.  If you are not sure about if the event would be good for your child make contact with the organization to see.  There are many events just like this one that are free and great you just have to get involved and do them.

The Truth Is....

The truth is I have had a lot going on in life and at work.  I have been extremely busy and unfortunately put this blog to the side while I went through it all.  I would love to say that I could come back in full force but at this point I really am going to try my best to post on my blog when time allows.

To be more specific I think I have allowed stress and just the shear magnitude of my work get the best of me over the past few months.  I found that I was just emotionally drained and needed some time to really work through problems and get a hold of myself and my life.

At this point I am excited to say that I will be posting deals, giveaways, and reviews when I can.  I am excited to still have my readers and look forward to providing you more on this blog!!!

Sunday Fun

I spent a good part of this afternoon teaching our "adopted" teenage daughter how to bake and decorate a cake. When she spent the night with us last night she started talking about how she would love to know how to decorate cakes and I told her that she should try to take a class in it.

This afternoon after everyone else laid down for a nap we decided to bake a cake and teach her a little bit about decorating.

I remember when I learned how to decorate cakes. I really wanted to learn so that I would be able to make a cute cake for my daughter's 1st birthday party. I ended up taking a 6 week course at Michaels, the craft store. I learned a lot and I actually was prepared to make my daughter the castle cake I had dreamed of for her birthday party. Everyone including myself was impressed. I would recommend taking a class for cake decorating, sewing, or anything that you are interested in. They are relatively inexpensive and they are great fun.

You can usually find classes like these at Michaels, community colleges, and other craft stores. Check it out and have some fun learning something new!
